New Delhi: The list of absentees is growing for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s all-party meet, meant to discuss his initiative of “One Nation One Election” and the Niti Aayog’s proposal of developing “aspirational districts”. Seven leaders have sought to be excused from the meet, for which the Prime Minister had invited leaders of all parties. The newest ones to send in their regrets were Mayawati and Samajwadi leader Akhilesh Yadav. Like Mamata Banerjee and DMK chief MK Stalin, they are not sending any representatives. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, former Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandresekhar Rao are sending party leaders to represent them. There’s no word yet on whether Congress will attend the meeting.
