Hey feminists: Give a shout-out to this fantastic nerd dad. Game developer Mike Mika and his 3-year-old daughter love to play old-school Nintendo, but something about “Donkey Kong” bothered the kid. Why couldn’t she play it as the girl, and have the game’s damsel in distress, Pauline, save Mario? So Mike hacked the game, reprogramming it so that Pauline saves the plumber from that barrel-tossing ape. When she gets older, perhaps the developer will continue that crusade against sexism in gaming. We look forward to “Larry Croft: Womb Raider,” about a male midwife who delivers babies at archaeological sites. [Source]
